Engineer and Surveyor with MARTIN, OTTAWAY, van HEMMEN & DOLAN, INC. Areas of specialization include forensic engineering, mechanical systems, structural and mechanical system survey and overhaul and failure analysis.
1986 - 1991
Engineering Officer in the Irish Naval Service. Responsibilities included operations management, training of personnel, maintenance and planning for marine powerplants of 3,500 to 14,200 BHP, including annual maintenance budgets and dry-dock specifications. Retired at the rank of Sub/Lieutenant in November 1991. Currently on First Line Reserve Listing.

Notable Projects
"Technologist of the Year" award for 1994 by the Instrumentation Society of America (Ireland Section) for "computerized planned maintenance system for use on Irish Naval Vessels".
Investigation and analysis of the sinking and total loss of a 82,000 Gross Tons OBO.
Management and coordination of a full mechanical overhaul of an ocean-going passenger vessel, including classification and regulatory surveys.
Analysis of failures in various engine and machinery components.
Pre entry condition inspections of vessels into the following P & I Clubs:
