The international shipping community is faced with the need to demonstrate formalized quality, safety and environmental management both on board ships and in the office. In general, this should be in accordance with the ISM code and the ISO9000 series and ISO14000 quality standards.

Members of Martin, Ottaway, van Hemmen & Dolan, Inc. have been involved in the formulation of many of these regulations and can assist the ship owner in the process of setting up the proper management systems.

This service includes sending a team into the ship owner's office and aboard representative vessels to insure that the system saturation is sufficient to meet the appropriate standard and, if necessary, to fine-tune the operating system.

Qualified Individual Service:

The firm provides "Qualified Individual" services to vessel operators in order to comply with the requirements of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA 90), as well as other international and state regulations.

In addition to providing certified qualified individuals, Martin, Ottaway, van Hemmen & Dolan, Inc. is prepared to be listed as team members for the oil spill response group listed in the client's spill response plans and manuals.
